About: Chau Doan
Chau came into photography from an eclectic background. He trained in mechanical engineering and computer programming before working as an English-Vietnamese interpreter and as a qualified Karate instructor. He found his way into journalism working as a writer for the English language newspaper Vietnam Investment Review before turning his hand to photography full time as freelancer in 1999. For the past seven years he has been working for international media including the Associated Press, Reuters, The New York Times, Forbes, National Geographic, Town and Country Travel, Le Figaro, The Asian Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, The Observer, Der Spiegel, The Sydney Morning Herald, Institutional Investor Magazine, The Times, Newsweek and Onasia. He has been the translator for all three IMMF workshops.
