Gemma-Rose Turnbull
Gemma-Rose graduated with first class Honours in Photojournalism/Social Documentary from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University in 2005. After completing months of work experience at The Sydney Morning Herald and The Northern Star she started a full time position as a photographer with The Northern Star, a regional daily newspaper based in Lismore, Australia. During her time at QCA she worked on the tenth and edited the eleventh editions of The Australian Photojournalist, a non-profit magazine created by photojournalism students dedicated to sharing the finest quality journalism and photography. She was awarded the Queensland Arts Council Photographer for a year scholarship in 2005. In her first year at The Northern Star she was named in the top three photographers of her company, Australian Provincial Newspapers. In 2007 she was named News Photographer of the Year at the New South Wales Journalism Awards. She is currently working as a freelance photographer in Brisbane, Australia. She first travelled to Vietnam to work as technical support on the second IMMF workshop with Tim Page. She returned to the third workshop to supervise the technical systems and to design the IMMF magazine.
