About: Kelly Hussey-Smith
Kelly is a recent graduate of the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, majoring in Photojournalism. In 2006 she was Text Editor of the Australian PhotoJournalist, a non profit publication showcasing outstanding documentary photography and journalism, and is the current Editor of the 2007 edition. In 2006 she was awarded the Australian PhotoJournalist award for Outstanding Documentary Photography at the 2006 Graduate exhibition, Saving Daylight. Kelly has worked as a documentary photographer for The Department of Women, The Wesley Mission, and The Wesley Research Institute, and is currently working on long-term personal documentary projects. In 2005 she exhibited work in a travelling exhibition called Engaging Communities, and at the University of Queensland for Baxter ‘05’. In 2006 she exhibited work with Brisbane’s Homeless community at The Riverside Centre in Brisbane, and at Saving Daylight at the Queensland College of Art. In 2007 she exhibited work as part of a group presentation called Stories From our Backyards, at the OURmedia 07 conference held at the University of Technology in Sydney. She is currently working as a journalist for a citizen media website called You Decide 2007, and plans to undertake an honours year of study in 2008. Kelly came to the third IMMF workshop to assist with the technical systems and the printing of images for the final exhibition.
